Canada showing great value for overseas visitors in Q1 2010

By cory |  Categories: Industry Related

One important aspect of Canada’s global competitiveness as a tourism destination is the price of Canadian travel products relative to those of its key international competitors’ products. The competitive price index tracks product pricing trends in key markets and monitors Canada’s relative price competitiveness. The competitive price index is calculated based on a potential traveller’s expected spending on airfares, hotels, meals, and other costs for travel to Canada, compared with the costs for travelling to competing destinations.

Gulf Islands Biking Trip with Scott Serfas

In a recent report prepared for the Canadian Tourism Commission, it is predicted that Canada’s price competitiveness is expected to improve for the inbound travel markets of France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, China and Australia during the first quarter of 2010, compared with the same quarter of 2009. The improvement is largely because of significant year-over-year reductions in average airfares to Canada and great news for inbound tour operators in Canada.

For full details, please see the Conference Board of Canada’s full report on the short-term competitive outlook for the first quarter of 2010.

Conde Nast Chooses Vancouver as #1

By Kimber |  Categories: Exposure Travel In the News, Industry Related

Burrard Marina
Beating out Buenos Aires and Quebec City for the top place to visit in Conde Nast’s annual “best of the Americas” contest is no small feat! Both are beautiful, culturally rich places with much to offer. However it is hard to beat out Vancouver for many reasons listed here. Here at Exposure Travel, we’ve been agreeing all along with the many rankings that put us at the top, and we’d bet that most people doing these surveys have only seen the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to beautiful, British Columbia. For instance, I doubt that most visitors to BC have had the pleasure of experiencing premiere outdoor travel like this before! Or maybe you’ve always wondered but never thought something like this was possible! Well let me tell you, these trips are possible, they are amazing, and they are just a short distance from Vancouver. Come for the city, stay for everything else! And by everything else we mean the mountains, the lakes, the islands, all of which we’d be so very happy to guide you through. From one of a kind family vacations or “eco-safaris” as we like to call them to scenic cruises onboard a luxury yacht around Vancouver’s Coal Harbour, Exposure Travel can do it all. Come experience all that Vancouver and British Columbia has to offer! Conde Nast has, so why don’t you?

Travelling = meeting the most interesting people!

Reeling in at Langara Fishing Lodge

Not that there is any shortage of great things about traveling in BC with Exposure Travel, but one of the biggest perks has to be the incredibly fascinating people you get to meet on your journey. To meet other adventure seeking enthusiasts, particularly in some of the world’s most beautiful and unspoiled destinations enriches the experience immeasurably. Nick had the great pleasure of meeting Gaelin and her family who are originally from New York while at Langara Fishing Lodge in the exquisitely beautiful Queen Charlotte Islands.

Gaelin Rosenwaks is a New York based photographer, explorer and marine scientist who started Global Ocean Exploration, www.globaloceanexploration.com, an organization created out of Gaelin’s desire to introduce remote oceanic ecosytems to the pulic through state of the art, cutting edge research expedititions via classroom tutorials and lectures using web-based technology, photography and film. Gaelin’s photography reflects her own sensitivity as an oceanographer and conservation biologist  to the remote regions she photographs, enriching the depth of her work and demonstrating a real empathy to her environment.

Once a year Gaelin’s family takes a week of holidays and come fishing to one of their most cherished destinations: beautiful British Columbia. In the attached video you can see Gaelin, her brother and her mum and dad reel in and release a 55lb, 46lb and 42lb salmon. Their determination to see and explore the oceans while helping to maintain those underwater leviathans in the fish stocks is admirable and families like Gaelin’s really demonstrate their respect and commitment to the health of the oceans. Exposure Travel is an advocate for protecting our oceans and the fish and creatures who inhabit them. Booking a trip with Exposure is not only an incredible adventure for one and all but a learning experience about the world we live in!
